Iman

Tutor

Iman is a passionate astrophysics graduate student with a love for teaching. She graduated from Middlebury College with a BA in physics and math. As a research intern at The American Museum of Natural History, Iman collaborated with Dr. Shara and Dr. Zurek to analyze archival telescope materials in search of erupting dwarf novae and was awarded a grant for her outreach work with the museum. In an effort to make STEM more approachable and inclusive, Iman started an affinity group for women of color in science and math and has worked with a science research mentoring program to help marginalized NYC high school students develop coding and research skills. Eager to share her enthusiasm for astronomy with others, Iman has hosted guided stargazings, built a planetarium, and taught visitors at the Mittelman Observatory about binary stars and nebulae. Iman also loves creative writing and public speaking and won first place in the Parker Merrill Speech Competition. Iman looks forward to continuing her effort to make learning feel exciting and welcoming at Westchester Prep.
